Derek is absolutely correct, Luke has no doubt in that, and he's not at all bothered by the fact that Reid knows it, too. Neither of them are cooks, neither of them seem particularly interested in learning how to cook and Luke wonders if it's just his lifestyle sticking with him. He's had nearly twenty years as a relative bachelor, twenty years off toast, cereal, sandwiches and takeout, which is a hard sort of history to change now that he's here. With Reid living in the apartment with him, he's tried to branch out a little. In the mornings he makes eggs and bacon when he has time, mostly because he likes to idea of sending his boyfriend off to work after breakfast. He makes a delicious sandwich, so at least he's capable of that much, but he's never going to be cooking a meal like this. It's nice to realize Reid really doesn't mind. Together they can still put on an evening like this and Luke figures that's really the thing that matters most.
He loves living with Reid. Maybe it's only been a week and maybe it's supposed to be an adjustment, given that this is the first time Luke has shared his space with anyone in a significant way. Clary and Simon had stayed over at his place sometimes in Manhattan, she'd often spent a week with him here and there when Jocelyn had been out of town, sometimes just a night or two if she and her mother were fighting and they needed their space. Luke had always been happy to have her there, but sharing an apartment with Clary had never been at all difficult. She'd been neat and courteous and helpful because it hadn't really been her place, no matter how comfortable she had been. Luke wants Reid to be comfortable here, he wants him to leave little messes behind if that's what's natural to him, he wants to find his coffee mug sitting beside the kitchen sink sometimes. He wants all those little details that remind him he's no longer living alone. Briefly he'd wondered if letting go of his solitary tendencies would be difficult, but they haven't been. Not at all.
Stroking his fingers against the inside of Reid's wrist again, he grins, looking down at his other hand resting against his knee. He tips his head to the side, resting his temple against Reid's shoulder for a moment before he straightens up again and shrugs deeply. "That's not anyone's fault, really. I suppose it's just a natural talent I seem to possess. Must be all those years of extensive Shadowhunter training that have left me agile in all manner of speaking."
He's teasing, he truly has no idea if he's actually good at anything when it comes to sex, but he knows Reid seems rather pleased. And so long as the two of them are happy together, that's really the only thing that matters to Luke.
