Reid knows everything, but he keeps his expression neutral, simply nodding when Alec says he's dropped by to speak with Luke. "Work is... hectic," he says with a sheepish laugh. "I'm sorry I haven't been in touch as often as I should be, we've just been getting some breaks in the vampire case. I'm hoping it'll be over sooner than later, I think we're getting pretty close to solving it for good."

There's no way to stop every murder caused by a vampire in Darrow, he knows that. The vampire he and Luke had interrogated a few nights ago, Marcus, he'd made it clear there's no stopping the entire population of his kind; but Reid has accepted that, he understands it's bigger than just this case. He also knows, though, that the murders he's trying to solve at all connected and with what they've learned, he's another step closer to finishing it. The sleepless nights that see him pouring over the evidence he's collected and sifting through what he's learned to make whatever connections he can, they'll be done.

"Anyway," he continues, finishing up his text to Luke and putting his phone back in his pocket, "how are things with you? Anything, you know, exciting going on? Or not exciting, I don't know, either way."
