Luke has told him about Church, mostly in comparison to our own cats, and Reid does have to admit that there are definitely shared traits there with Mister Purrkins. He wouldn't call Mister Purrkins a grumpy cat, not really, he's just... selective about who he wants to be around, that's all, and Reid had never really imagined getting to a point where he'd actually feel the need to defend any sort of cat, much less one of his own, but here he is. Just like nearly everything else about his life in Darrow, his view on having pets has changed entirely.
"I don't know that I'd compare you to a cat like that," Reid says with a laugh, glancing over his shoulder to grin at Alec before holding the door that leads to the kitchen open for him, "but then again, I'm not your sister. The closest I've ever come to having a relationship like that with anyone is with some of my teammates. Morg-- Derek, he used to call me Pretty Boy. Still not really sure why."
He's never thought of himself as pretty; frankly, he's never really given much thought to the way he looks, though he'd worried about it a bit before he was supposed to meet Maeve and then again when he'd gone on his first few dates with Luke. That's another thing that's changed, how easily Reid accepts it when his boyfriend says things like he's beautiful, and it still makes him flush a bit here and there--much like it does right now, though he hides it when he turns away to face the coffee machine--but he doesn't question whether it's true. He's never questioned whether anything Luke has told him is true.
