"Are you coming or going?" Magnus teased gently as he went to join Alec. Each ringed hand held a mug of steaming coffee and he offered one out.
Holidays were difficult times for many. Magnus had long ago cut ties with his family, had them cut for him, and the wounds had healed over into faded scars. He did not miss them, especially not during modern, thoroughly American holidays. But, despite his own presence and Luke's, and despite knowing the kind of family the Lightwoods were, Magnus worried that Alec might be feeling a little more distanced from the world than usual.
"I suggest staying because there will be pie. Always stay long enough for pie."
