Luke may not want the kind of ceremony he might have had as a Shadowhunter, but Reid is pleased to hear that he does still want a wedding. He hasn't given a great deal of thought to how he'd want a ceremony of his own actually arranged, but he's always known he wanted it to be a celebration. Whether they have a larger wedding or not doesn't matter, Reid is mostly just concerned with having the people they care about most present to see them exchange their vows. When it does happen, when Reid does finally propose--

(and he does want to do that, admittedly, he wants to be traditional in that regard and be the one to get down on one knee in as romantic a setting as he can manage, though this may be hard to beat)

--he doesn't think it'll come as a surprise to very many people. He's already talked to T.J. and Graham about it; come closer to the time he's ready to propose, Reid thinks he'll probably talk to Alec, too, possibly even Magnus for a little help in making everything as close to perfect as he can. Maybe he'll even get a ring to propose with, one for each of them to wear until they can substitute them with their wedding bands, and he wonders if he can even get Magnus to magically engrave the inside of the rings with marriage runes. Luke may not be a Shadowhunter anymore, that may not be the way of life he follows, but it's still been an enormous part of his life. Reid does respect that, even though his boyfriend had been cast aside once he'd been turned, and he thinks it might be a nice gesture to include that in some way.

But that's something he can consider later. Right now, he nods, tilting his head just slightly as Luke's voice inexplicably cracks as he speaks, though Reid doesn't address it. The feel of his boyfriend's fingertips trailing over his back is intoxicating, making him shiver as goosebumps rise on his skin, and he splays a hand out flat on Luke's stomach before dragging it up to run through the hair on Luke's chest. By no means will he mind it if this goes the direction this day was going to go anyway, there was never going to be any question at all that they'd return to having sex as many times as they can manage in the next twenty-four hours; but at the same time, Reid doesn't want to let the conversation drop, doesn't want it to be a brief thing they visit then lose sight of later on because this is something he truly wants, something he now knows Luke wants, too.

It's not as if they're discussing getting a new car just to forget about the topic later, he realizes that, this is their future as a couple, something far more important. He just wants to be sure that they can see what else they agree on regarding being married before he starts planning his eventual proposal.

"I'm glad we agree," he says softly, giving Luke a meaningful smile, "not that I thought we wouldn't. I've just... I've never talked to anyone about this kind of thing. I told both T.J. and Graham that it's what I want, to marry you, and for the first time in my life, I finally know for sure that it's something I can actually have. I didn't think it'd ever happen. I didn't think anyone would ever love me enough to want to spend the rest of their life with me." It's not meant to be self-pitying, simply a true statement. After Maeve had been killed, Reid had figured his chances at marriage to be over, simply because he couldn't imagine ever feeling for someone again like he had for her.

He doesn't feel the same way about Luke as he does about Maeve, comparing the two wouldn't be fair because the relationships had been so different; but he knows that being with Luke feels right, that in his heart, he's absolutely certain that Luke is the only person in the world he could love this much. If he believed in fate, he'd believe Luke was made for him.

In spite of wanting to continue their talk, Reid can't help but lean in for another kiss with a contented sigh, letting his lips linger on Luke's as he shifts on the bed to throw one leg over his boyfriend's hip. He's back to the position he'd been in earlier, straddling Luke's hips, and he pulls away just slightly, hands rest on either side of the pillows below Luke, to offer a coy grin. "You can wear a flannel suit if you want, by the way," he teases, "I love you as you are, more and more every day. You just have to promise that the rest of the day will consist of practicing for the honeymoon."
