There hadn't been any real worry that Luke would respond poorly to what he's doing, but Reid had wanted to be sure all the same. When it comes to the nature of their relationship, neither of them are the type to simply go along with something they aren't fully comfortable with, and that's been true since the beginning. If that hadn't been the case, Reid supposes they wouldn't have made it this far, neither as lovers nor as friends, because if he'd let his fears take over upon seeing Luke change in the amusement park that night, things would have been over between them before they'd really had a chance to begin.

There's a reason he hadn't run, in spite of never having been exposed to anything quite like that in his life. The thing about it is, he's seen things throughout his career that he hopes the majority of people will never have to be exposed to, things that have terrified him to his core, things that have alerted his instincts and allowed him to recognize that which he should truly fear; but that night, with Luke's claws extended and his teeth razor sharp, Reid hadn't been afraid. He hadn't been fascinated by the unknown or nervous about what might happen next, all he'd felt was safe.

If asked to explain it, Reid doesn't think he'd really be capable of it. What he feels for Luke is like nothing else he's ever felt before, it's incomparable to anything he's experienced and because of that, indescribable. He can try, of course, and he has. He's told close friends of how much he loves this man, of how deeply connected they are in every facet of their lives, of how doubtless he is that they'll spend the rest of their lives together. What he hasn't been able to tell anyone is that in an unfamiliar world, with no friends to rely on, Reid's life could have ended up very different had he never met Luke. He doesn't want to say he'd be floundering without his boyfriend, but he knows he wouldn't be as steady as he is today.

Perhaps he wouldn't have immediately turned to seeking out drugs again, seeking out the high in a misguided attempt to keep the memories of his old life from his mind, maybe he wouldn't haved looked for refuge in a bottle or anything quite so extreme; but Reid is certain he'd be far from content, far from assuming a real life here in Darrow, and he's grateful every single day that he'd chosen that particular coffee shop to visit when he'd arrived in the city.

There's nothing he can really say to explain that, not even to Luke. Simply saying it isn't enough, not as far as he's concerned, so Reid tries to encapsulate it all in the attention he gives to Luke's body. When they're being intimate, it often feels like they've lost themselves in worshipping each other, in doing all they possibly can to be sure that the other is reaching the highest form of pleasure, and Reid would be prompt to say they've never failed at that. Now, shifts his reach so one arm is wrapped around Luke's thigh and the other is gently stroking Luke's cock, Reid moans as he presses his tongue back inside of his boyfriend's body. Already, he can feel how tight Luke will be, and he's never been the one to be on top before so the promise of what it'll feel like to push deeper into that warmth makes him whimper. Slowly, he fucks Luke with his tongue, in awe of how incredible it is to simply be the one to do this, wondering all the while what it will be like when he inevitably asks Luke to do the same to him.
