youfeelluckypunk: (shy smile gross)

It's a delightfully ridiculous sight, Luke practically buried by a mound of bubbles in the bath, and Reid bursts into laughter before taking his boyfriend's hand to join him. He can't remember the last time he's had an actual bath, previously because he'd just never had the time and now because Reid thoroughly respects Luke's preference to preserve water. More typically, they shower together--

("It'll save time and help the environment" is the argument they hadn't needed to come up with.)

so the instant sense of relaxation that comes with sinking into the warm, sudsy water like this comes as a pleasant surprise. Any tension that might have been left in his body from the sheer exertion of having sex very nearly non-stop since they'd woken up is already melting away, and Reid rests his head back against Luke's chest with a contented sigh as he allows his eyes to briefly flutter shut. "This weekend has been perfect," he murmurs, and it's true. There's been nothing weighing on his mind, he'd managed to let everything go for the sake of a romantic weekend away with the love of his life, and Reid is so beyond grateful that he's found someone who's influenced him enough to do that.

This isn't something he would have if he were back in his world, it just isn't. He can't picture a scene like this fitting into the life he'd had there, and it isn't that Reid had necessarily felt empty; it's more that there'd been a distinct void he hadn't known could be filled. Coming here had changed everything, from the very start, and it tracks that Luke would have been the first person he'd met here. The first person he'd felt a true connection with, the first friend, the only one in this entire city who will ever truly know Reid and understand him in a way nobody else possibly could; and one day, they'll be married. One day, he'll be able to call Luke Garroway his husband, and the thought is enough to make him shift in Luke's arms so he can offer a small smile.

"Thank you," he says sincerely, holding Luke's gaze. "Not just for this, for coming here with me, but for everything. For being in my life, for being you. Just... thank you."
